Why Stay at Home?

I used to be an IT Professional for a telecommunications company earning big bucks. When I became preggy with our eldest, Kyla, I have decided that I would resign as soon as I give birth. I have always wanted to be a hands-on mom. I like babies and definitely want to devote my time to personally care for her. I knew financially it would be difficult for us, but God has provided for our needs.

Time passed by and it has been 4 years since then. The time has passed by rather quickly and it has been truly fulfilling. I was able to breastfeed Kyla for 11 months, see every “firsts” she made, teach her values which are important to us and be there for her, in every way I can.

Now, our second child is 1 year and 9 months old. The time we spent has been as fruitful and as blessed. Still breastfeeding but would like to wean soon.

So has it been worth it? Well, I dont have much financially now. Can’t buy stuff that I want to have, can’t even travel much. I also can’t improve our house and garden since our budget now is really tight already. I don’t have much of a social life either. Hm….

I guess let’s look at what the Bible says, since I believe that the Bible has the final say on everything…
…train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God. Titus 2:4-5

I definitely think it has been worth it. Aside from getting to see my children everyday and help them grow up with the fear of the Lord in their hearts, I become close to them and know them individually by heart. Above all, I am obeying what the Lord has instructed women in Titus 2.

    Sister Chris,

I totally agree with you! When I quit working after my oldest was 1, our money was tight, but now, almost 15 years later (he’ll be 16 next month) I can tell you, what God gives you with your children, cannot be replaced by any material thing!

Bless you sister! I’m so glad you can stay home.

  2. hey, i really admire you that you chose to stay at home. nothing is worthier than family, except God.

i just hope that i would also be able to do that someday.
