Learning the Language

Being a full blooded Chinese, I was able to attend Chinese school while growing up. Now that I have my own kids, I want them to learn the Mandarin language as well. I want to teach them here at home but was having a hard time since I don’t know where to start. I have been researching for Mandarin lessons and curriculum that I can use to teach my kids. I was so happy to find this post.

I am already starting to teach Kyla to write the numbers and hopefully, I can start to teach Toby too. I am going to be busy this coming week as I want to gather all the materials and prepare a lesson plan. I don’t really intend it to become a formal class but I want to intentionally teach them while we play and read books. This is one of my goals this week. Another goal is to create my homeschool plan for Toby starting this August, well, more on that on another post.

How awesome that you are teaching your family's languages to your kids! I am part Chinese, Spanish and Philippino. Sadly, my mom did not keep up the Tagalog or her dialect with me or my siblings. Since my dad didnt speak Tagalog (he is from the United States), and because of the time frame that I grew up in, it wasn't done.

I know some words and phrases in a number of languages because of moving and living in different countries growing up. But I wish that I could speak another language fluently, besides English.

    Blessings & Aloha!
