Good News!
I received a really good news today. I have been nominated by Yami of Mom Writes For A Cause as one of the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs for 2009. I am so honored!
As taken from her entry:
What are the measures of an emerging influential blog?
Being popular or has the potential to become popular is one. Second, the blog should be effective in providing an information to its readership. Third, the writer's opinion is worthy of respect. Fourth, the blog somehow influences (in a positive manner) the way its readers think or act. I think these are enough criteria of an emerging influential blog.
I am just elated that she think The Mommy Journey has all the qualities she mentioned!
She has also nominated 9 other blogs which are worth visiting too! Don't forget to visit her site to check them out as well!

Mommy Moments - Haircut
Good day to all! This week, we will share about our kids haircut... either its a first haircut experience or a recent one, we are excited to hear about it!
I have been blessed that both my kids are not afraid of getting a haircut. I brought them to a kids parlor for both stheir first haircut. One in which they will sit on some sort of toy car and have a video played in front of them while their hair is being cut! It was quite expensive actually. After seeing that they are cooperating with the barber/hairstylist, we just went to the ordinary parlor for succeeding hair cuts!
I dont have any pictures of my eldest having a hair cut but I have some latest pictures of my son getting his hair cut!
Join us this week at Mommy Moments!

Song for My Little Girl

When my eldest was born, I used to play a CD for her whenever she was about to sleep. This CD was Bless My Little Girl. The songs are filled with love and prayer from a mom's heart. I really loved the songs on that CD. The songs were easy to remember and easy listening. My daughter even remembers the lyrics of the first song since I usually sing that song to her...
"Itty bitty baby girl, daddy's pride, momma's pearl"....
My little boy also knows this song since I sing it to him every now and then ( I just change the gender on the lyrics of course!)
I love all the songs but there was one song that I really love and would like to share it with you... it speaks of a mother's dedication and prayer for her daughter...
SONG OF DEDICATION
Lord I dedicate yes I consecrate
My daughter to You
For Your purposes
For Your perfect plans
For all the things you'll have her do
Lord I give back to You
This child You've given me
For she belongs to You
She's just a loan of love
A gift from above
And I give her back to You
O Lord I give her back to You
Lord I dedicate yes I consecrate
My daughter to You
For Your purposes
For Your perfect plans
For all the things you'll have her do
Lord I give back to You
This child You've given me
For she belongs to You
She's just a loan of love
A gift from above
And I give her back to You
O Lord I give her back to You

Every thing that happens to us is God ordained. Nothing is an accident. We live in these times and in these locations because this is what God has planned for us. We might not be in our best situations, but God has instructed us to make the most of every opportunity by doing good works for His glory.
Happy WFW!

Co-Sleeping
Do you think co-sleeping is okay? Until what age should co-sleeping be acceptable?
Co-sleeping means the kids are sleeping with their parents on the same bed. In our case, my eldest has been co-sleeping with us since she was 11 months old. While my son was 6 months old, when he started co-sleeping with us. Until now, Kyla is already 5 years old while Toby is 2, we are still co-sleeping.
At the beginning, I didn't really plan on co-sleeping but as it turned out, it was easier for me since I was breastfeeding Toby for 22 months. And now, I enjoy sleeping beside my kids. Waking up beside them and being close to them. I am not sure until what age we would be co-sleeping but for now, I am just enjoying being close to them for I know 1 day, they would surely want their own bed and their own room.

Motivation For Moms - Thankful
Take opportunities to give thanks by taking turns around the dinner table to express what you are thankful for.
Taken from Motivation For Moms
This is such a wonderful reminder to us moms. Most of the time, especially when we have little kids, we tend to focus on the things we need to get done, or we are reprimanding them. This reminds me to talk with my kids while they are still young and to listen to what they have to say. Starting young, this may help us nurture an open communication with our kids.
Another thing is that we have to be thankful for every little thing. The Bible has instructed us to be constantly in an attitude of thankfulness. What better way to teach this to our kids than to practice this with them.
Any special tips?

Mommy Moments - Grandparents Bonding
This week's theme is GRANDPARENTS BONDING. We all know that spending time with the grandparents are important. It doesn't only foster special moments with them, but our children will also gain wisdom from them.
That is why we make it a point to visit my parents in Manila so they can see and spend some time with their grandchildren.

My kids are blessed that they still have complete sets of grandparents. I am so thankful for their love and support for our family.

Bedtime Routine
Do you have a bedtime routine with your kids?
After dinner, my kids will take their bath, brush their teeth and change to their pajamas. They get a couple of toys or draw and color. Then my son just does his wrestling match with the pillows (he always does it!). Then they drink milk and we read books together. And when the clock hits 8 o'clock i tell them it is lights off. Sometimes, I tell them stories. That is our usual bedtime routine.
When they were smaller, I learned that bedtime routines such as a warm bath, stories, music and lights off help the babies know that it is time to wind down. And after a few years, I can see that it has paid off. Though there are days they just dont want to sleep yet, most of the time, they oblige with the rules.
I am glad that the kids sleep through the night already. Kyla began sleeping through the night when we weaned her from bottle feeding around 3 years old. Toby around 2 years old when we weaned him from breastfeeding.
Have you ever wondered how much sleep does our kids need? This is what I found out from Information About Children's Sleep For Parents and Teachers
Though each child has different needs, this charts shows the recommended number of sleep hours including naptime.
