Homeschool Update!

Today, Kyla had her 2nd quarter evaluation and portfolio review with The Master’s Academy. I was glad to hear that she was able to share and explain what she has learned articulately. The teacher/consultant was happy with the way the evaluation and review went. She mentioned that she could really see that the values we are teaching Kyla is really integrated in her life through Kyla’s responses to her questions. The only area Kyla needs to improve on now is Mathematics. Although she is able to solve her subtraction and multiplication on paper, she is having a hard time replying verbally without the use of paper and pen. So teacher suggested that we use more manipulatives like blocks, stones or paper clips so she can see math at work since Kyla is a visual learner. Teacher also noted that Kyla’s strengths were reading and Science. She enjoys the experiments and learning more about how things work. I think she would appreciate gifts she can use to explore like barska binoculars or magnifying glass.

Anyway, I am grateful that my daughter is thriving in the first half of our first year of homeschooling. It is an encouragement to hear that she is enjoying and learning what she needs to learn.
