Homeschool Help : Starfall

I am starting to teach my son to read. And I tell you, it is not an easy task. He easily gets distracted and doesn’t like to sit through pages and pages of worksheets. I am so glad that there are interactive websites which helps kids to be interested in Phonics… and our favorite so far is Starfall.
There are several stages where your kids will be exposed to the different phonetic sounds of the letters. It starts with separate alphabet sounds then it moves on to combining the letters together. There are different games in each level and my son loves it.
I am actually amazed that he was able to answer the level 2 exercises already. I thought that he isn’t interested at all but when I asked him to answer the different activities, I was surprised that he answered them correctly. We are practicing them daily and I am glad that we are progressing, slowly but surely.
If you don’t know where to start with phonetics, Starfall is a must visit.

  1. I also love this site for my daughter 😀 My officemate share this to me when my daughter was almost two years old. Before I only set the page to alphabet, now my daughter can explore the site by her own.

I'll try this with my son.. he's 3 and a half years old now and he's not a very 'excited' learner either..though I'm trying to go very slow with him.. what material are you using? I'm using Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy lessons..it's a great book..I used it for my daughter too.

  7. We started visiting starfall last week. The toddlers love it! Thanks!
