Mommy Talks is featuring different homeschooling parents. Our guest for today is one of the first homeschooling moms I have ever contacted when I was still researching and thinking about homeschooling my daughter 2 years ago. I am thrilled that she agreed to be featured over my blog today! Without further ado, let me introduce our guest for today, Ms. Michelle Padrelanan.
BRIEF INTRODUCTION
Michelle has already given birth to their baby boy last April 22, 2012. Her son is premature at only 30 weeks gestation. As of this time, he is already three weeks in the NICU and is recovering well. All is well, by the grace of our loving God! You can follow Michelle at her blog Beyond the Silver and the Gold. Know more about a Filipino family’s homeschool journey.
love this thanks for sharing mommy chris!
I love her answer to your question about wanting to stop homeschooling. Handing over the reins of my children’s education to a school is so easy, but deep in my heart I believe in “a higher standard of parenting” and I try to live that everyday.
Michelle is also one of the HS moms I look up to and one of the first who was so open to sharing about homeschooling with me years ago. 🙂 We are blessed to know her! I admire her even more for homeschooling independently all these years! 🙂
hi she is indeed inspiring for choosing to homeschool her kids despite her situation and condition. i myself had recently embraced homeschooling and in a middle east country, the homeschooling phenomena had just started to kick in. whilst not too many moms are into the thing, they are slowly listening and embracing our stories and shares. my son suffered a major bullying cas ein school where he got 6 stitches on his forehead when an unruly boy at school (multiracial school) threw a brick at another classmate and hit my son instead. that incident left a bad scar on our son and mine and i moved him to another school. because of bullying all the more i had decided to homeschool my son. and now i am reaping the benefits of it. my son has become an achiever ever since i homeschooled him. recently on his 9th birthday last feb 21 he became the first Filipino child and the first participant child artist in the UAE t be selected at the United Nations Art for Peace global competition. He was featured in GMA 7 News as well as the biggest publication here in the UAE. Had we sent him to school his talent wouldn’t even be encouraged by the teachers there. Praise God for homeschooling. All the best to all homeschool moms.
