Meaningful Gifts Don’t Always Come in Packages

The last month of the year is my favorite month, maybe because it is my birth month or maybe because we get lots of days off. But moreso, this month being Christmas, it gives me additional motivation to go the extra mile and be more loving, and be more giving to others.

I love giving presents to family and friends. When I was younger, I remember giving my family and ¬†friends Christmas cards and gifts just to let them know that I appreciate them. But due to financial constraints, I find myself not being able to do this anymore as much as I want to. But through the years, I eventually ¬†realized though that gifts doesn’t need to be expensive and they don’t always need to come in packages.

Here are some of the gifts you can share with your loved ones this special month of December.

Say a prayer. Amidst all the busyness and the shopping, spending a few minutes in prayer for that person might not be tangible but can be more fruitful than sending him packages.

Write a letter. Technology has killed letter writing via the old-fashioned way, but I believe that nothing conveys one’s thoughts and feelings better than reading a hand-written letter.

Connect with your family and friends. Visit them and let them know that they are important by spending time with them.

Offer to do something for them. Do chores for them like driving them, cleaning the room and helping them with routine work.

Do you have any other ideas? I would love to hear your suggestions.
