God is Our Refuge and Strength

Last week, our little boy was sick with fever for 4 days and it turned out that he got Urinary Tract Infection or UTI. If you are a mom, you would know how physically and emotionally draining it is if one of your kids is sick. Thankfully, his body responded well to the medicine and he has now fully recovered.

A week before that, we were reading Pollyanna as our read aloud. A quote that caught my attention is “There is something about everything that you can be glad about, if you keep hunting long enough to find it.” My little boy mentioned this to me while he was sick last week and it kept me grounded and thankful. Even in the midst of uncertainties and difficulties, we can thank God for his strength and his grace that enables us to get through situations.

I also found encouragement through the Word of God. Psalm 46:1 said God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Indeed, the Lord showed us that He cares for us by providing for the medicine, just in time and giving good results to my son’s tests and by being our refuge and strength. He is a strong tower in turbulent times.

Time and again, my family and I have witnessed God’s faithfulness. Thank you Lord.
