Mommy Moments – My Personal Goals for 2012

mommy moments

Happy new year to everyone! With the start of a new year, I am sure many of you have made your resolutions and your goals already. I definitely agree with goal setting because this will definitely make life more purposeful. I would like to share with you some of my personal goals for the year 2012:

> Beautify and de-clutter the house! Make sure we are not storing anything that we don’t need or haven’t used for the past year. It also means re-arranging the furnitures, decorating the place a bit, replacing old stuff. We’ve been living here for almost 7 years now and I have not done any decorating or home improvement stuff, hopefully, this year, we would be able to do just that.

> Spend time daily in prayer and in Bible reading. I was able to read through the Bible last year and it was great! This year, I hope to be able to do that again but using a different format.

> Read at least one book a month for personal growth. Books could include the following genres : devotionals, fiction, non-fiction, parenting and womanhood.

> Travel locally with the family!

> Reorganize The Mommy Journey! Watch out for the re-launching of this blog!

What are your goals for the new year? Share them with us at Mommy Moments!

Reaching My Goals

I remember blogging about my goals for this year at the start of the year. I remember saying that I would like to :

> Spend at least 30 minutes every day reading the Word of God and in prayer
> Do something for others. Be involved in helping others in whatever capacity.
> Teach my son to read.
> To continue in homeschooling my kids.
> Start contributing to SSS and Philhealth
Well, now that the 2nd month of the year is about to be over, I wanted to revisit these goals and to check which ones I have accomplished. I am glad that the 5 goals I have stated so far are accomplished and being accomplished.

Now, I can set more goals for the year. Like looking around for more jobs so I can save some money, maybe look around for merchandising jobs or other part time online work. I want to be able to save for the following this year:

> My kids saving account
> Stock trading
> Vacation abroad
Hopefully, by God’s grace, I would have accomplished these too by middle of this year.

Goals for 2009

New year has started and its been 13 days since. How fast time passes us by, doesn’t it? Before it gets too late, I wanted to share my goals for the year. So that you can help me, by reminding me about them from time to time.

Instead of having year long goals, this year, I have goals for the month. Hopefully this way, the goals will be more achievable ๐Ÿ™‚ I have already achieved some of my goals for this month, like revising my blog layout and starting a picture meme ๐Ÿ™‚ I will be putting a list together and placing them on my sidebar soon. Don’t forget to check it out!

How about you? What are your goals for the year?

At The Well – Resolutions

Today’s At The Well host is Laura Lee of LauraLee’s Lifesongs. The questions discussed today are:

1. What is your favorite “resolution” in the Bible?

2. Do you do a New Year’s resolution? Why or why not? Does
your family make a resolution together?
3. Usually a resolution comes as a result of regretting
something you didn’t do the year before…how do you let go of the regret and
move forward?
4. (optional…only if you wish to share) Have you ever
made a resolution in the past that you didn’t keep and wish you had?

We were told that we can choose any of the questions or answer all of the questions or just talk about the new year.

The new year always gave me a sense of hope and optimism that “this year, its going to be different!” But somehow, as the new year becomes “not so new”, the optimism wears off. Resolutions or resolving to do things differently have never worked for me. Not being able to keep my resolutions has been a humbling experience for me. It taught me how weak I really am and how much I need God in my life. It opened my eyes to the real “state” of my life as well. I believe that resolutions alone can not help me achieve what God wants me to do or the changes I need to do. Only through the grace of God can real changes happen. I pray and ask for His guidance and leading in my life daily. Little by little I see that goals become reachable and changes happen.

I believe that this year, God has led me to make goals for each month. Instead of making my usual year long resolutions, I am making goals per month.

For the month of January, I have these goals relating to my spiritual life:
– more time to read and study the Bible daily
– join a growth group in our church
– finish reading “Transforming Grace” book
– do at least one act of random kindness and share the love of Christ
– pray for one particular person the whole month
– listen to God more

My favorite “resoultion” in the Bible is Acts 20:24 “I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given meโ€”the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.”
