Discipling Young Women

One of my life goals is to disciple young women. As it is written in Titus 2: 3 ” Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, 4 and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.”

I have started a group with 4 young ladies last year but due to life changes, we stopped meeting. Early this year, I started another group and we have been meeting at least once or twice in a month. We discuss issues about faith, life, love and practical matters. We sometimes touch issues on smoking cigars, peer pressure, work matters, family issues and issues of the heart.

It is truly a privilege to lead young women in discovering themselves, knowing God and pursuing Him. I see how God works in their life and I truly marvel at God’s greatness! I pray that may we all grow more and more like Christ everyday.

True Beauty

With all the craze about women diet pills, I think it is important for us moms to know more about the products before we take them. I know the unneeded pressure that society sometimes brings us. We need to look like we have never given birth or we need to look like those sexy hot babes out there otherwise our hubbies might look elsewhere. Of course it is important to look good and presentable, but we must not let society pressure us and change us. God has made us unique and each of us have our own gifts. With the recent themes of Girls Talk, I have learned to appreciate more and more what God has given me… I used to be very insecure but I have learned that tere is really more to life than just our physical bodies. Beauty is not measured by what our eyes can see.

What Is Your Best Asset?

When you ask women about what they think is their best asset? Some women would say their brains, some would say its about their personality and some would say its their physical looks. Some women would think if they got the ”looks”, they would have a better chance in things. I believe that is why women invest their money on getting a treat at the parlor or spa, kind of clothes they wear, types of shoes and the right accessories. Some would even spend much for every particular season, like summer attire or winter boots for women. One of the reasons why women love to shop, whether online or at the actual store!

But I definitely think that “looks” is not the primary asset of a women, its just an “add-on”. What really matters is one’s heart or character. That is where true beauty lies. Inner beauty is what makes one attractive.

A Good Woman…

A good woman is hard to find,
and worth far more than diamonds.
Her husband trusts her without reserve,
and never has reason to regret it.
Never spiteful, she treats him generously
all her life long.
She shops around for the best yarns and cottons,
and enjoys knitting and sewing.
She’s like a trading ship that sails to faraway places
and brings back exotic surprises.
She’s up before dawn, preparing breakfast
for her family and organizing her day.
She looks over a field and buys it,
then, with money she’s put aside, plants a garden.
First thing in the morning, she dresses for work,
rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started.
She senses the worth of her work,
is in no hurry to call it quits for the day.
She’s skilled in the crafts of home and hearth,
diligent in homemaking.
She’s quick to assist anyone in need,
reaches out to help the poor.
She doesn’t worry about her family when it snows;
their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear.
She makes her own clothing,
and dresses in colorful linens and silks.
Her husband is greatly respected
when he deliberates with the city fathers.
She designs gowns and sells them,
brings the sweaters she knits to the dress shops.
Her clothes are well-made and elegant,
and she always faces tomorrow with a smile.
When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say,
and she always says it kindly.
She keeps an eye on everyone in her household,
and keeps them all busy and productive.
Her children respect and bless her;
her husband joins in with words of praise:
“Many women have done wonderful things,
but you’ve outclassed them all!”

The Message

I have often wondered what is a godly woman, what does God want me to do with the rest of my life? It is very interesting that there is actually something on the Bible about womanhood…

May the words encourage us to be all that God has purposed us to be!
