At The Well – Titus 2: 2-5

Gathering At the Well

Today is the start of the “new” At The Well! I’m quite excited with the updates and changes 🙂 If you are curious about what this “At The Well” is all about , let me share this with you, taken from At The Well’s site…

This, Ladies, is the HEART of At the Well.

My prayer is that this will be…
a place to talk, laugh, maybe cry a little,
a place of comfort,
a place to share,
a place to listen,
a place to glean wisdom
from those that have been-there-done that,
a place to share wisdom
that God has whispered (or shouted) in your ear
a place to exchange ideas and lessons learned
a place to pour out your heart and maybe even heal a broken one.
a place to feed your soul and nourish your spirit.
a place to drink in His living water.

Today’s topic and questions are:
When you read the Scripture found in Titus 2: 2-5,

2Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.

3Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.

how do you see this playing out in your own life?

I have always believed that older women should mentor younger women. When I was younger, I have always sought the advice of older Godly women who have been-there and done-that. Now, I am still praying and hoping that God would lead me to someone who can be my “Paul” and someone who can be my ” Timothy”. I want to be mentored and I am looking for someone I can disciple and mentor. I just recently joined a small group in our church, hopefully, through this gathering, God would lead me to these people.

What are your areas of strength? Of weakness?

Strength — I love taking care of the family. I love keeping busy at the house. I love organizing the house and looking after the kids. I love supporting my husband in reaching his goals and in whatever way possible.

Weakness — I think all areas are my weakness. I guess I am a work-in-progress. I need to study and learn more about God’s word. I need to spend more time with God so I can be more self-controlled, pure, be more submissive (and the list goes on). I need to learn to cook (yes, I do not know how to cook!). I guess one major area of weakness is self-control. I need to be more disciplined on how I use my time. And when I am losing my patience, especially after a long day… need to have self-control.

If you could set some sort of goal in relation to this Scripture, what would it be?

I am starting a new Bible reading plan. I am cutting down my time using the Internet and using that time instead to read God’s Word and books which help me to grow as a Christian.

Other goals, hopefully, I will be able to find my accountability partners soon too. So I can have someone check on me 🙂

Make sure to go to At The Well to see what others are saying about Titus 2:2-5.

Those are wonderful goals! There are many wonderful sites out there with wonderful recipes! If you need any, drop by and I’ll give you some! 🙂 I can cook, but I don’t give it my all and I want to. Especially now that we are working on cutting our budget and living more frugally. 🙂 So I am going to be learning some things in this area as well.

  9. Good for you- being on the look out and praying for someone to mentor and for someone who can be your mentor.

I applaud you for realizing there are things in your life that you need to lay aside so that you can focus more attention and time on the Lord and your walk with Him!!! I’m sure all of us have things we need to get rid of so that we could spend more time with God. Thanks for the reminder!
