For more than a year now, our Friday nights are movie nights in our home. The kids and I watch a movie, something new or it could be a re-run, as long as we watch it together. We try to make it special by turning off the lights in the room, popping some special popcorns like those from whirley pop and snuggling together.
The kids look forward to this special time together. I myself am excited for Friday nights too! I love snuggling with them and just enjoying the moment with them. Not thinking of what we have to finish or what I need to do. It is a much needed weekend break for a mom like me.
One of the things I have learned through out the time that we have been doing this is that I should give them 100% of my attention. It doesn’t matter if I’ve seen the movie 100 times as long as we are watching together and I am not doing anything else. It shows the kids that spending time with them is most important, more important than looking over at my mobile phone or my computer.
I want my kids to know that I love spending time with them. I don’t just spend time with them because I have to, it is because I want to.
