The Kinder Project was formed by a group of teachers and artists who wish to empower public school teachers by giving them teacher training and teaching materials to boost the learning experience of their students, particularly in Reading.   Through the help of Learning Lion – a Philippine publishing house in Pasig City, The Kinder Project has created a unique, Filipinized, bilingual game-based program with teacher-created materials, flashcards, storybooks, games, movement activities, songs and worksheets to energize the classroom learning experience.

Before the start of the 2014-2015 Philippine school year in June, The Kinder Project, with the support of Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte, aims to provide 200 Kinder and Grade one classrooms (total of 96 Public Schools) from the poorest communities in Quezon City with these teaching materials that will promote greater development of skills in Reading.  Distribution will be on May 22 and 23. On these same dates, they will also conduct a free workshop on how to best integrate the reading program into their curriculum.  In addition, within the next 2 to 3 years the group will be visiting each school to follow-up their progress and with the support of Fullybooked each school will be provided with a library of books from pre-school to the intermediate level.

In the past few years, with the help of generous individuals and partners, The Kinder Project has donated materials to:

  • Efren Penaflorida’s ‘Kariton Klasrum’ in Cavite City
  • AHA Learning Center – a free nursery for children living in the cemeteries along Kalayaan Street in Makati
  • GreenEarth Heritage Foundation, Inc, a community in the Sierra Madre Foothills
  • Six classrooms headed by Dumagat Scholars
  • Center of Hope Daycare in Payatas
  • Three public schools in Pangasinan
  • Tomas Morato Elementary School
  • Casili Elementary School
  • F. Benitez Elementary School
  • Two Day Care Centers in Cagayan De Oro
  • All the Assumption Transformative Education Schools

Please consider adopting a classroom for school year starting in June 2014 with 3,190 pesos ($65) for a Grade 1 classroom or 2,915 pesos ($71) for a Kindergarten classroom.  This is a one-time donation that will give each teacher the following: 1 complete Alpabasa Reading Set for daily learning through play, 1CD of over 50 original Filipino songs, pocket chart for storage, 17 easy reader storybooks in Filipino and 45 workbooks. Your help will go a long way in ensuring that Filipino children have a solid foundation in Reading that will help lead them on the road to being life-long learners. Please be assured that your contribution will provide these public school classrooms with teaching tools that they will be able to use for years to come.  Together, let us build a nation of readers through empowered teachers.
