Mommy Moments – Farewell!

mommy moments

After almost 4 years, I am closing the weekly meme that I hosted every Friday, “Mommy Moments”. It was through Mommy Moments that I met several bloggers who became friends offline. God gave me wonderful memories that I always looked forward to sharing with everyone. But as they say, all things must come to an end. I have been thinking of stopping these meme for some weeks now, because few are participating but moreso, because it is time to end it. I am grateful to everyone who participated in the weekly meme and hopefully, we will still be able to visit each other’s blogs. Remember to always cherish every moment that you spend with your loved ones.

Thank you everyone. I leave you with this…

“The Lord bless you
and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace. ”

Last Saturday, we found ourselves at SM Mall of Asia. Knowing that the PBA has a game in the Mall of Asia Arena that night, we wanted to watch the game to see what the Arena looks like and to support BMeg (it is our favorite team)!

The arena looked really nice! Though I wish the space between the seats were bigger, but generally I liked it because I felt closer to the players even if our seats were already quite far. We were excited and happy to be there that night!

Thankfully, BMeg did win that night so we all went home happy! :)

A few weeks ago, my kids purchased  a new pair of pajamas since their old pajamas were really tight and small already. They were so excited to wear their new pajamas after we washed them! Both of them willing posed in front of the camera… and here is the shot!

It is moments like this that I love capturing!

I love seeing the two of them cuddle and embrace — Though they regularly fight (as all little kids do), I see how much they love each other and enjoy each other’s company. The other day, I saw my daughter wrote a note to her brother saying “to my favorite person”! Isn’t that something?

It is my prayer that they will grow up loving and supportive of each other all through their lives!

Since watching our first PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) and Football game (Philippine Azkals vs Sri Lanka) last year, our family has become a fan of sports. We have followed Azkals games, whether live or just through TV, PBA games and most recently, the UFL (United Football League) in the Philippines. It has become a favorite family bonding activity recently. We root for our teams and we support them!

Just last Tuesday night, we watched the UFL championship games and saw a great finish to a league we have started to follow early this year. I know that my son is inspired to play and do better as he watches the UFL games week after week. If you ask him where he wants to play when he grows up, he would often tell us “UFL” :) I am hopeful that someday, he will be able to become a good football player which will inspire the next generation to play their best for God’s glory and for their country.

Mommy Moments – Lessons I’m Learning

Can you find him? Can you see my little boy?

My son loves to make us smile. Intentionally and sometimes, unintentionally, he makes us laugh with his humor and his antics. There are days that he can be hard headed and be in a bad mood, but it is equaled with those days where his happiness and playfulness rubs on everyone at home.

But being a mom is not easy. We all know that the hard days come. When the hard days come,  he really gets on my nerves. I react to the way he is and I lose my temper.  At first, I thought I was just reacting to my son’s misdeeds. But the Lord really has a way of dealing with us. Throughout the weeks and months that followed, God was talking to me and showing me just how selfish I was. I admit, sometimes, I am irked by his misbehavior at home because I feel tired or I judge him unfairly or simply because our personalities don’t match.  When I think about it, it is not what the way I am supposed to be teaching or parenting him at all.

Being together for long periods of time, I have been learning about my son’s strengths and weakness but moreso, I have learned a lot about myself. It is truly humbling to realize that aside from teaching my kids what they need to learn, the time I spend with the kids is really God teaching me through my kids. I learn so many realities about life and if I really want to teach my kids values and character, I need to embody them first.

We have been studying the Bible and character, and I have been seeing all those truths come to life. I have learned to apologize to my kids, to readjust my priorities, to be kind and gentle  to them even when I am tired. It is not an easy task, but by the amazing grace of God, I thank Him that I am able to learn along side with my kids.
